Assemblage Collections
The first creative practice I really fell in love with was collage. I used to sew band patches on every inch of my clothing using dental floss – the contrast between the black band patches and the bright white stitching was stark and beautiful. My assemblage work includes pieces from my travels, objects found on job sites, high end designer wall-coverings, fabric samples, and street detritus. I incorporate pieces of who I am with portions of my daily calendars and notebooks. Oftentimes I add paint to solidify the work. The labor of sewing every edge down with contrasting floss is visible in the final piece, and each piece tells a story of that specific moment in time.
